It's easy to maintain self-defeating expectations about how things will turn out based on your past experiences, when you're battling with a mountain of depression, lonliness, debt or sickness. Our culture, media, the educational system, workplace and even our friends bombard us with defeatist attitudes which wear our faith down.
Jesus refers to this mountain, our current situations, not past encounters. By exercising our faith "nothing shall be impossible". The reference to the mustard seed shows that the tinyest seed can grow into a mighty tree.
When our God given faith is planted, it grows into a life style that portrays itself in our attitudes and launguage. We look at what is possible with confidence.
