The Ostrich
A Ratite (flightless bird), native of South Africa, lives up to 80 years. Ranging from 6 to 7 foot tall and weighing up to 350 pounds, they are able to run 35 miles per hour. The Ostrich is used for breeding, leather, and meat. Their eggs weigh 3 to 4 pounds and the shells used in the creation of Broken Dreams (tm) were collected after they hatched.
The eggshell, broken in the struggle for life, create the beginnings of each handcrafted piece. Each line, color and picture structure is enhanced by Nature's own designs.
